Review of Heat (1995) by Andrew H — 03 Dec 2015

I was barely a teenager when this movie came out, but I am sure that when people heard that two of the greatest actors were going to be in the same movie and face off against each other that the hype was out of control.

This is just off the top of my head as I write this but im pretty sure Heat was Deniro's last great movie. And it is a great movie. Not just about cops and robbers, it is a little more complicated and layered than that, but that is the basic premise here.

Needless to say the movie is kind of long seeing that Michael Mann was the director. But there are not many dull moments at all during this movie. Some of the action sequences are flat out amazing. The infamous bank robbery scene is one of the best shootout scenes I have ever scene, one of the best shootout scenes probably in the history of cinema.

Not just the way it was conducted but the sound of it, it sounds all too real. Just like a gunfight with automatic weapons in the middle of a city should sound. The cops are tough and worn down and the criminals are ruthless and badass.

Heat is a great action movie and an awesome thriller with some twists and turns in there as well. But the overall plot is easy to understand and really enjoyable. If you can make it through the movie you wont be disappointed , do not like the run time effect if you should watch this or not.

You get to see two of the greats go head to head finally on screen. Just savor it since Rob has decided to take a huge dump on his legacy by his film choices lately. Heat is a winner for sure.
