Review of Heat (1995) by Dmorles — 13 Jul 2017
Heat is the best Heist movie ever made - period. There are some Heist movies that have come close or made some inroads into the genre of Heist - ie The Town, The Bank Job, The Italian Job, THe Score, Oceans Trilogy, Triple 9, Inside Man, Ronin Etc.
There's just no movie that executes on all levels in the same fashion that Heat does. Pacing, cinematography, character development, acting, soundtrack, technical details of each Heist, technical details in gun battles - the strategies that both cops and thiefs use in this movie are deliberate meaningful and impactful.
Mann nails it to a tee. I've watched this movie more than 100 times and it never gets old. True sign of a masterpiece. Nothing less than full marks for this film in my opinion. Those who are giving this movie a negative review must either not like Mann personally - or are have bloodlines back to ancient Philistia.
