Review of Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse (1991) by Brett W — 06 Mar 2008
Possibly the greatest movie about making movies, Hearts of Darkness is a painfully intimate look at the production of Apocalypse Now - an arduous task that nearly drove director Francis Coppola insane and was almost never finished time and again.
A great, endlessly watchable collection of retrospective interviews and on-set home movies that give perhaps the most close-up perspective of any Making-of documentary ever made. This is as much a masterpiece as Apocalypse Now.
