Review of Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse (1991) by Immaculate E — 25 Dec 2007

I received this for Christmas and couldn't be happier. This is a perfect companion piece to intense, insane masterpiece that is Apocalypse Now. It's about time that it is on DVD and I'm glad to own it.

While it does show some of the ugliness of filmmaking, I'm blown away by Coppola's originality and determination to make something that is honest and true to himself, no matter what. While being a cautionary tale; it is also an inspiring artistic feat speaking to another mistaken war and the dark depths of man's evil soul.
