Review of Hearts in Atlantis (2001) by Alexandra W — 30 Nov 2009
Meh meh. It was going along nicely, and then it just kind of ended. So, inevitably, I didn't really get the point of this movie. And, ps, the mother doesn't actually grow as a character, even though we were supposed to believe she does. For example, she buys her son's love with that bike, never actually apologizes for anything, and will probably still use her sexuality to advance her new career in Massachusetts, as evidenced by the way she looks at her make up in the last scene she's in. So, basically, this movie is all right. But not that worth it. Watch Simon Birch instead.
Also, every time I hear the title of this movie, I think of "Random Hearts" starring Harrison Ford and what's-her-face-skinniest-who-looks-like-that-famous-figure-skater-from-the-late-90s, which is another movie whose ending sucks.
