Review of Hearts in Atlantis (2001) by Samuel G — 10 Mar 2010
Another great film to add to the rest of the Hopkins classics. This man is the God of film. With every performance, you come out satisfied. Not always because the film was good, but because Hopkins can hide the fact that a film is complete bullshite, but once he leaves the screen, the magic is usually broken.
And to my thanks, the magic never broke away from Hearts In Atlantis, it remained calm, and collective. You always knew when something bad was about to happen, but you could rarely tell what it was. But, most important, the film makes you feel for its characters.
Its always engaging, and you can't take your eyes off the screen. Amazing film, however, that being said, it still finds a hard time holding a candle to the rest of Anthony's films.
