Review of Hearts & Minds (1995) by Isaac C — 09 Jul 2009
A powerful documentary on the Vietnam War/ American War. I was confused by the time frame of the film until I found out it was finished before the war was over. Regardless, it gave an accurate view that is so often marginalized even today. Many powerful words were spoken in the film by both hawks and anti-war individuals. Even the credits were poignant. Some parts were unecessary such as the football scenes and the brothel scenes, but overall, these are minor gripes. Also eerily similar to the current war with its lies from the government and shows that the lesson have not been learned.
"The Vietnamese only fight in self defense. Ultimately the Americans will see the light. If not, they will defeat themselves.".
