Review of Hearts & Minds (1995) by Sean C — 03 Jun 2011
I have my problems with the politics of this film, particularly its nearly rabid anti-war stance (including a misuse of the song âOver Thereâ?) and harsh critique of American society. However, the film is superbly edited, powerful, and most of all right.
Our involvement in Vietnam was a disgrace. Perhaps most disturbing is the film's underlying theme that the Vietnam War was not the end, but rather the beginning of something terrible in America. Also, one can see the fissure of our current politics even in 1974.
