Review of Headhunters (2011) by Todd G — 29 May 2012
Tight noir-esque film that twists the screws and still manages to surprise the viewers. Pretty good on many levels.
Roger Brown (Hennie) works well as the sly corporate recruiter that uses the information on his clients to steal art from their homes, constantly recommending against them so he can run through more candidates. But things go badly when one "victim" turns the tables on him. The plot turns and twists, both deliberate and circumstantial remind me of the thrill of early Coen Brothers work.
Brown will go through humiliation, betrayal and pain before understanding exactly what he is up against, only surviving by luck and desperation. Yet the pay off at the end is worth it for both the audience and the protagonist.
Entertaining and stylish. Well worth the money and the need to read subtitles.
