Review of Headhunters (2011) by John B — 12 Jul 2012
Yes, norwegians make good films. When you don't have the budget for CGI action , you have to rely on a good plot , script , character development. Most action films these days rely long , exhausting chase scenes or when the lead character is beaten to near death by the villain or an estranged lizard it's frankly boring . But in this film you feel the dog bite, the stab in the back or the fall from the cliff and you wonder if you're up to date on tetanus.
It is in subtitles , so the first 20 minutes you're focused on the lower 1/3 of the screen and you could miss the art on the wall or the facial expressions. But you'll soon get into it and it takes off from there.
It's a suspense, thriller involving bad guys and ultimate evil with some macabre worked in. The lead character likely won't recognize but he looks like someone if Steve Buscemi and Christopher Walken had a baby together . The other guy is from Game of Thrones( the good liking guy who sleeps with his sister). It's about a vertically challenged art thief who realizes in order to keep his gem of a wife he has to keep up his moonlighting job until he realizes in a moment of empathy that it's not alright .
It's best not to delve into too much detail but there is a scene that rivals Slumdog Millionaire ..
You know it's a good suspense flick when you leave the theatre and wonder who is behind you as you fumble for your keys at the car door..
