Review of Headhunters (2011) by Donegal H — 30 Aug 2012
A Norwegian suspense crime thriller with a subtle streak of black humour. Despite some convenient plot contrivances this proved great entertainment.
On the surface, the main protagonist, a recruitment "headhunter", is a snobby cock sure businessmen. This is compounded by his other job- a seriously efficient art thief.
However, his next "mark"- his last big score to fund his lavish life style- is about to turn the tables in a big way....The headhunter becomes the hunted.
As our anti-hero's world collapses around him- we find he does not love himself quite as much we first thought.
What follows is an Hitchcockian style "out of the frying pan into the fire" series of scenarios. The characters are great and the actors make the whole thing creditable- especially our art thief.
If Norwegian movies were made by the Coen brothers - this might be how they would turn out.
