Review of Headhunters (2011) by Juli S — 02 Feb 2015
Headhunters is a Norwegian crime thriller that is based on Scandinavian Noir writer Jo Nesbo's bestselling novel. The movie is so original and well paced that you won't mind reading subtitles. Game of Thrones fans will love Nicolaj Coster-Walda's performance, but this movie is full of great performances.
Although the director didn't have a big budget to work with, he went all out trying to bring his vision to live. For example, he used a beautiful white pit bull in a few scenes, a dog that has been outlawed in Europe, so they had to borrow a Russian police dog.
As it turned out, the dog was fairly docile and lazy on night shoots, so the actor and director had to go to extraordinary efforts to make it appear as though he was capable of a vicious attack. Mark Wahlberg is planning a remake of this film, but I can't imagine it will come close to topping the original.
