Review of He Was a Quiet Man (2007) by Geir S — 12 Mar 2008
Talk about a twisted movie! Bob Maconel is the epitome of the quiet office worker who goes by his day to day routine largely unnoticed, that is of course unless he's being bullied by his supervisor at A.D.D. The two things he values most at his job are the "Hula girl" that sits atop his computer screen, and a loaded gun he keeps in his desk drawer. Bob frequently entertains the idea of "going postal" at work and gets daily encouragement from the voices in his head, which he manifests through his gold fish.
One day, however, his plan is thwarted by an office mate with a similar idea. Bob ends up saving the day and the life of a woman he has often fantasized about. The two become friends and companions, which begins Bob's healing process... or so he thought.
A bizarre twist in the final scene makes you question which parts of the movie were real, and which parts belonged to a reality that Bob created. A dark comedy with great acting and an interesting plot is the essence of this film!
