Review of He Was a Quiet Man (2007) by Vagabond V — 23 May 2008
The bad news is that it is hard to believe that Christian Slater, once considered the next Jack Nicholson, has fallen from stardom and been sent to straight to video releases. The good news is this recent movie is great and it is ashame that more people will not get to watch this great performance.
Slater plays the role of a lonely man stuck in a job where he is aliented by his peers. He is aware of the inequlaities and wishes to injure those around him with a gun. In a Fight Club and Falling down tradition a set of events change his fortune, but the real twist is that did they change his fortune or is the director messing with your mind about the decisions that we might have made and the freedom we wish to seek.
There are three separate endings because even the director had a tough decision on how to have the viewer the ending of a brilliant piece of work. Well worth the time to rent.
