Review of He Was a Quiet Man (2007) by Rhys G — 12 Jun 2008
A very intelligent film that takes the old premise: What if my life could be different?, and slowly and painfully deconstructs the character's wonderful but impossible fantasy. Bob wants to create a better world for himself, but it falls apart simply because, at the end, he's Bob.
Though well crafted, the most glaring flaw in the film I find to be the near-criminal underuse of William H. Macy, who is too charismatic an actor to be harnessed in such a lifeless role.
