The one thing I don't understand about this and comparable movies are the lax of central character back story. In this movie we learn more about Vanessa (Elisha Cuthbert), whom is the secondary character, than about Bob (Christian Slater).
I think this is a hidden flaw, and in the case of this particular movie, it makes it difficult to see Bob in a light other than a creepy "quiet" man, and instead, everyone else around him are assholes and bitches.
Still a great film. Slater is at his best, and Cuthbert is finally showing some range. A uniquely entertaining film.
