Review of He Was a Quiet Man (2007) by Bancho — 07 Apr 2008
He Was A Quiet Man doesn't build to a climax; instead, you are taken on a roller-coaster journey through the mind of a disgruntled cubicle dweller that starts off depressing, gets a little sunnier, then drops right back into gloominess. There are a few figment-of-imagination touches here and there, a la Amelie, but the similarities stop there.
Christian Slater is very good here. Wheelchair-bound Elisha Cuthbert is great. Quadriplegia hasn't looked this good since The Bone Collector!
He Was A Quiet Man suffers from a rambling plot that even superb acting couldn't cover. ...In other words, This Was An Average Film.
