Review of He Walked by Night (1949) by Jake G — 02 Nov 2009
Another great docu-drama/film noir starring Richard Baseheart, HE WALKED BY NIGHT is a solid flick with excellent cinematography and mise-en-scene. The film incorporates standard film noir themes of desperation and the nature of evil, and is just one of many to explore the concept of the mythical "perfect crime.
" The manhunt that unfolds is one of the most brilliant I've seen, concluding with a shootout in the LA sewer system.
