Review of He Got Game (1998) by Ricardo O — 11 Nov 2010
For being a sports related movie it's quite graphic but it nevertheless gets its point across. None of Spike Lee's films may be perfect but a couple of them come close to being so but this one does have some flaws (most notably the score, it gets a little distracting sometimes) but is still a very good movie.
Who says basketball players can't act? Ray Allen does a really good job in his screen debut as does the always dependable Denzel Washington. Spike Lee has always been a master at directing his actors and he succeeds at getting good performances all around as well as improving his signature visual style.
8/10.
