Review of Haywire (2011) by Matt P — 27 Oct 2012
Are you kidding? Plenty of big names, except the lead role. This was either a Hollywood Boys' Club "leg up" for Gina Carano, Soderbergh's weak attempt at a Tarantino-style flick, a college senior's filmmaking final project, a SyFy Channel movie director's big break, LionsGate's way of spending the leftover movie budget, or an IQ test for the movie-going faithful.
The cinematography was the only good part (and the only reason I gave this review a 2nd star). Storyline had plenty of potential. Screenplay: meh! It was not smart, it was not tricky, there were no surprises & it was a waste of my money.
Editing: disgraceful and insulting. Sure the lead is pretty, but if you want to see her looks, just watch an episode of American Gladiator! hope the big names got paid a lot off money, because this movie will not appear in their Lifetime Achievement Award presentation.
I can't believe the "critics" gave such good reviews!! This smells of conspiracy! I need to go get something to drink - I gotta get this bad taste out of my mouth! Bleck!
