Review of Haywire (2011) by Fernando P — 21 Apr 2013
A film that struggled with pacing and a seemingly watered-down plot with few attempts to explain or expound on itself, Haywire yet remains an enjoyable experience thanks to some impressive cinematography and top notch direction from Steven Soderbergh.
Even though the plot is bland and the characters move through the world emotionless and robotic, the action sequences and fight scenes were well choreographed -- even if at times they seemed almost a little too practiced.
With a cast such as the one boasted by Haywire, it would be been nice to add more depth to both the plot and the characters themselves. To give such characters a purpose or reason to be would have been a great start on the path to redemption for a film such as this.
