Review of Haywire (2011) by Lee M — 09 Jul 2013
Other than a few impressive yet very brief fight scenes, this film lacks the kinetic energy that typically gives films like this more life..... more kick so to speak. Gina Carano is a damn fine MMA master and quite nice to look at, but she's more a fighting eye candy mechanism than a character in the film.
She's no actress. Disappointed to see a Soderbergh film add up to nothing. No feeling, no emotion, nothing was invested in this film, so I wasnt invested in anything going on. At no time was I feel intrigued, thrilled, intense, or on the edge of my seat, I felt absolutely nothing.
My pulse didn't change one iota. A cast like this is worthy of a better film. Gonna have to go with the audience rating, not the critic rating and chalk this up as a complete waste of talent on material so paper thin that its practically air and like air there is nothing to it.
DULL and lifeless pretty much sums it up.
