Review of Havoc (2005) by Rissa D — 17 Dec 2008
For an hour this, while aimless, is a well-made look at high-schoolers attempt to belong, whether it's through the wigger culture or hanging out with Latino drug dealers. Than the last 25 minutes, while not extremely damaging is pretty much a farce to what came before it...shame.
But, this does give me the opportunity to speak about Anne Hathaway. I actually think that she's an underrated actress but then it probably helps that I haven't seen the fluff movies yet. Here is almost a calculated role to get away from the kid-star image with her doing drugs, smoking, getting drunk, getting naked and being wigger. I hesitate to use eye-opening for this but she is quite good and the best thing about this movie...and Brokeback Mountain.
