Review of Havoc (2005) by Coop L — 18 Jan 2009
Nowhere near as gritty and raw as I was made to expect. Havoc, written by Traffic's Stephen Gaghan, played out like a lame wannabe edgy street level flick. Nowhere in the film was I ever convinced that what I was watching could really be going down.
What I'm trying to say is that for an Indie film, it sould have felt way more indie, and it didnt. Anne Hathaway was horribbly miscast as the lead, and I didnt believe a damn thing she was doing on screen, it seemed all so forced.
There were moments of cinematic genius, visually, but then the characters speak and youre like....fuck this..
