Haven is really not a very important film to see on a list of many. Many things came out along with it. Unfortunately, I had the...chance.. to screen it prior the rest. And unfortunately, I was neither impressed nor excited. New coming director Frank E. Flowers shot for Spielberg-esque stardom but sadly landed somewhere along the made for TV unmentionables. That is very unfortunate also. Everything about Haven is unfortunate. Even in its plot. Bill Paxton plays a businessman fleeing Miami due to tax issues so he runs to the Cayman Islands. CAYMAN ISLANDS: UNMASKED. There are drugs, drama, more drugs, and love. .

Love, awww love and chaos. That is where our lead comes into play. Orlando Bloom plays Shy. A rather, shy and meek dockworker. He falls in love with someone he shouldn?t have and that leads to acid being poured on his face. You can tell this guy is something when you are staring at a man who is a few steps away from Ripley?s and the ladies still come back for more. He is an excellent actor and that is the truth but it was his character that made it unbearable. An actor can only do so much. He needed something to work with. It is hard to determine, did Bloom want to try out an ?indie? on for size or does he love these Caribbean movies? Notice, he not only works on boats in both Haven and Pirates of the Caribbean he is also set in the Caribbean. Hands down, he is a better pirate..

The feel to Haven is not a very good one. The trend of unsteady camera work seems very unprofessional and poorly done. It seemed to have been made very quick and sloppy. As you watch it you almost feel like saying to yourself ?if he doesn?t care, I don?t care? and, you don?t. That is the problem. The film picks up towards the end with some story line going but knowing the happenings of the characters lives in Haven is just not going to be one of your top priorities and it shouldn?t. Haven is not worth it. .

Orlando Bloom and Bill Paxton are not the only people in this film. There are also other characters. There is Caymanian Fritz (Victor Rasuk) the local busy body annoyance and Ritchie Ritch (Raz Adoti). Both are only if anything average. It wouldn?t be hard to believe if their casting was to due to the fact that they won their roles in Haven. The rest of the casting is scenery. Non-necessary, non-motivated, and non- believable. .

Haven is not a very fun or exciting Caribbean adventure and it was also not a tax based crime drama. It is filled with Blooms over hyped melodrama that is useless because its not even interesting which by the way, gets sickening because the guy doesn?t get the girl or get to keep his Teen People friendly face. The screenplay goes to shambles. The screenplay starts from shambles. You do not deserve to spend your free time watching Haven. Taking the time of day to see it is just buying a two-hour nap for yourself. Flowers should crawl before running and do a few more commercials..
