Review of Have Sword, Will Travel (1969) by Jeremy P — 18 Apr 2009
This was like Chang Cheh's "jumping" movie. There are just a ton of shots of guys jumping in all sorts of ways, often in slow motion and off spring boards located just off camera. It also has this old western or samurai theme about a hero who doesn't want anything, at all, except a place to sleep, and ends up misunderstood by everyone else.
Of course since this loner is played by David Chiang he was the highlight of the movie. Ti Lung really annoyed me for playing such an ass, but he was still great in the fight scenes. It's also pretty bloody in some often poorly edited ways, but I find that sort of stuff forgivable.
The ending is really long and drawn out (post-fighting) but appropriate.
