Review of Haunting of Cellblock 11 (2014) by Al M — 02 Sep 2014

Haunting of Cellblock 11 (aka Apparitional) was obviously made with care by fans of the genre. It has a decent story with some great scares and good FX. It has a talented cast that shares some real chemistry.

And it has that cool indie-horror vibe. Unfortunately what it also has is every genre stereotype that could be crammed in (visual, characterization, dialogue, plot; you name it, it's here). They are so prevalent that they actually keep the movie from achieving its full potential.

I wish the filmmakers had had more faith in themselves, that could have turned "fun and watchable" into "awesome!".
