Review of Hating Breitbart (2012) by Mark T — 31 Oct 2012
Exciting, energetic, manic, confrontational and relentless....that's both Andrew Breitbart and this movie. This fast paced story follows around conservative media entrepreneur Andrew Breitbart on what turned out to be the last few years of his life. What we see is not just a man who is almost possessed to take down the established media but also how the media will not admit to mistakes. This is a great movie for anyone, left or right, who wants to see the human story of one man who is hell bent on confronting power. Breitbart clearly relishes in confrontation. He says twice that he "no other human emotions" other than jocularity and righteous indignation. What toll this took on his personal life is not examined, though clearly the man gets a physical rush from it. His eyes show a man thriving on animal energy. What toll this took on his body is evident from his early death this year. Contrasting Breitbart's manic whirlwind are some wonderful scenes with this father-in-law, the charmingly low key Orson Bean, who provides some sagacious New England calm to Breitbart's adrenaline fueled Hollywood drama.
His friends may be sad that the man is gone. I see it as a void to be filled by all of us. So praise the Lord and pass the bullets, and do check out this great movie.
