Review of Hatchet II (2010) by Brian P — 20 Oct 2010
Writer/Director Adam Green picks up at the same exact second that the first movie leaves off. Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder) is attacking Danielle Harris in a row boat. She escapes death (duh shes the main star) and starts hunting down more information on her past, her dads past and gets help from Rev Zombie (Tony Todd). The 2 of them recruit a team of about 12 hunters to enter the woods/swamp and kill Victor Crowley once and for all.
Once I saw the army of 12 or so locals with various attitudes enter the woods.. I knew that I was going to see some entertaining kills. Adam Green didn't let us down. This movie has some great gore in it and is a lot of fun to watch.
On Friday I read a very intresting artical regarding this movie and it's very limited release. Adam Green isn't on good terms with the Motion Picture Association of America. They refused to rate this movie R. He cut out about 2mins of footage and they still came back with a NC-17 rating they even told him "You couldn't kill people like this". At that point Green had figured that he would take Hatchet 2 direct to DVD. Then he received a phone call from some people at AMC (movie theater chain) and they cut a deal to released his un-cut/un-rated version in select theaters. I found this story to be very cool of AMC. So I'm in full support of both Adam Green and AMC for working together to put this movie onto the big screen. If you like over-the-top kills and cheesy dialog.. this is a must see for you. If you saw the first Hatchet Movie.. part 2 is just as equally fun to watch.
I give Hatchet 2....... 3 Stars.
