An enjoyable attempt to recapture the slasher genre, Hatchet has a potentially iconic baddie in Victor Crowley, some amazingly nasty gore effects, and a batch of cool guest stars (Robert Englund, Tony Todd, Kane Hodder).
But, as a return to the slasher genre, it also has just another batch of annoyingly anonymous, screaming twenty-somethings running around getting hacked and slashed. Fun, yeah, but not the revolution you've been hearing about.
