Review of Hatchet (2006) by Shiela E — 11 Jul 2015
OMG! this was HORRIBLE!! the first couple of scenes before they go on the swamp ghost tour are a bit amusing; the main character, Ben, was sympathetic as well as refreshingly intelligent and serious-minded for a horror flick, and the early cameo by horror legend Tony Todd made this look promising, but it all goes to shit FAST! I can't believe Mercedes McNabb (Harmony in Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Joshua Leonard (great in Bates Motel and the otherwise mediocre Blair Witch), Kane Hodder (Jason Voorhees himself), and even Freddy Fucking Kreuger, Robert Englund appeared in this piece of garbage! no suspense, no scares-just place some people in a swamp and a deranged killer pops out of nowhere and starts slaughtering them.
Even the killer's backstory was boring. you can't get more paint by the numbers and cliched. and if he is a fucking ghost, how can they hurt him?!! but I've spent enough time on this steaming pile of shite.
would get HALF a star if not for the likeable characters.
