Review of Has Anybody Seen My Gal? (1952) by Steve G — 29 Sep 2015
Jimmy!
The mom is a horrific wench.
The film takes a weird turn, where the kids suddenly become kind of criminals, & Smith has to keep bailing them out. The snobiness was a very peculiar twist.
Coburn is an incredible actor. A little overhanded. I'm very disappointed that his real identity isn't revealed at the end. That's what we were waiting for the whole time. Despite liking the film, that causes a major detraction.
The ending seems so rushed. Like they had exactly 2 minutes to say 5 minutes worth of dialogue.
It would have been so gratifying for him to show up the angry rich people, by showing that he's infinitely richer. Why set up if no payoff?! That's so frustrating. Anyway, it was still enjoyable. But it brings down a potentially great movie to a pretty good one.
