Review of Hart's War (2002) by Pattie C — 15 Apr 2012
I have a few issues with this movie. First of all, it doesn't flow well since the story is all over the place. It starts off in battle, with Farrell driving and then in a maze of frozen dead bodies and then suddenly, Farrell is defending an African American soldier in a courtroom. I was like, WTF have I been watching and what did I miss?! Then there's a plot twist at the end, which doesn't even seem like a twist, but more like a whole new story. Then the focus isn't so much on the trial but the "twist". And the twist was a bit unrealistic and tying this in with the whole plot against the soldier on trial was extreme and unnecessary. Also, about ten minutes of random face shots and other shots could have been cut.
The very end didn't blow me away and my anticipation for a huge Whoa!!! Moment was not to be. At this point, the end didn't correspond with anything at the beginning and it felt like I was watching a different movie altogether. It was irritating.
