Review of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) by Graham M — 27 Sep 2012
I originally wrote my review for this film before I became a filmmaker myself. I now understand more about the aspects of making a film and what makes a film good and I can honestly say this film isn't bad at all.
I hated, and continue to hate, many aspects of the film, such as pacing - horrendous in every film - tone, done very well in the film but highly inconsistent, and the look of the Dementors. But the redeeming qualities about this film are that it matures the series from a film aimed at 9 year olds to a film aimed toward a wider audience.
I still think many things could've been done better, but the thing Cuaron does best is the incredible cinematography in the film. By far the best of the series for cinematography, but questionable in terms of most other aspects.
