Review of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) by Josh G — 11 Dec 2012
This is the most overrated Harry Potter movie by far. Everyone claims that this is where the series began to take itself seriously. Jeez that makes me want to laugh and cry at the same time. This movie has more silly moments in the first fifteen minutes than the two predecessors did combined.
Sure it's darker, but the stupid moments in this movie are one too many. This movie's definition of "dark" is extremely unassured. Yes, Alfonso Cuaron gives it a desaturated, drab look, but within those parameters there is not room for the ridiculous moments that plague it.
