By many considered to be the best installement of the series, "Prisoner of Azkaban" builds the bridge between the first two more child-friendly and the later more serious Harry Potter films. It's gorgeously directed by Alfonso Cuaron, and while Gary Oldman and David Thewlis are wonderful additions to the cast, it's here that the three main stars took the biggest leap in acting abilities. Cuaron brings out the best in them, and his quirky vision of the wizarding world creates an unique atmosphere that no other entry in the series manages to give the viewer. Also, John Williams delivers his best and final Harry Potter score.

It's darker and more mature, but that only helps bring out what these movies are always about: family and friendship.
