Review of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) by Nicholas F — 29 Sep 2013
This movie would be the second worst Harry Potter film behind Deathly Hallows Part 1, in my opinion. Following up after the first two majorly successful Harry Potter films, this one was a massive letdown.
Cuaron attempts to bring a darker and more adult style to this movie, but fails when it comes to superimposing supposedly "humorous" situations (the shrunken Jamaican head and that completely useless cleaning witch).
The first 20 minutes are just pure crap with rushed plot points, bad acting, and pointless humor. The movie does not actually get good until we see the Dementor searching the train. The Dementors and Buckbeak were amazingly well done, however, and we are introduced to Sirius Black and Remus Lupin, two of my all time favorite characters.
This movie has some good qualities, but is still a very horrible Harry Potter movie.
