I watched the movie first (a few years ago) before having read the book. I re-watched the movie a few weeks ago after having recently read the book for the first time. Although I admittedly liked the book a lot more than the movie, the movie was still a really enjoyable escape.
Special effects and excellent casting really brought to life Rowling's vision.
