Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is a fantasy movie released in 2001 and directed by Chris Colombus. It's based on a J.K Rowling's book. There are 7 books in this saga and they all tell us the story of Harry Potter, the wizard. This caracter is played by Daniel Radcliffe who is now know for his representation in the movie. On the movie but also on the books, Harry Potter is friend with two others caracters : Ronald Weasley (played by Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (acted by Emma Watson).

Even if it's a fantasy movie, this one is adaptedto children and adults : the magical aspect that we find again on the next 7 movies is here very marked. We discover an all new world on whitch one sorcerers and fantastic beasts are existing. But there is also danger and it's interesting for older public.

The story takes place in England, in the Hogwarts school. Harry Potter is an ordinary eleven years olded boy raised by his uncles : the Dursley. He hates them and his parents died since he was born. Harry discovers one day he is a sorcerer and he musts go at Hogwarts school, a school for people like him. On the sorcerer's world Harry is actually a famous person because he is the only one who faced and survive to the black wizard, Voldemort. He is now caught up by is past and must face it with the help of his friends Hermione and Ron.

On this film and on all the others, Daniel Radcliffe portrays very well the caracter of Harry Potter. First of all, he looks like him. Then he knows how to convey the main caracter's life. Even if he is supposed to be an Young boy, he brings a childlike aspect to the caracter but also a brave one. Harry Potter thanksto Daniel Radcliffe, is oblivious and curious at the same time.

As for Emma Watson, I think she is the best actor in this trio. She played perfectly the unbearable and haughty personality Hermione has. We can say she is smart as Hermione Granger.

Of course, Rupert Grint conveys very well too to the life of Ronald Weasley. he brings us something that make Ronald funny and fearful.

Finally our three actors grew up with the movie caracter's and it makes them believable.

Warner Bros had a budgect of 125 000 000 $. With an amount that bigger we expect a lot of techniques and special effects. Chris Colombus fulfill our expectations. First with the soundtrack. The soundtrack is always here to convey with the caracter's feeling or to let the viewers know tht there is a danger. For example the music change to be a light and joyfull one on happy moments. and when the rythm goes faster we know something mportat is going to happen. Afterwards, we notice a lot of littles techniques on the way they shot the hots to make them more believable. For example, when Harry speek to Hagrid (a half-giant) we see him by low angle shot (18'39min). It makes the caracter bigger. Then there is a panoramic view of Hogwarts school at 38'48 minutes to shows us the school is huge and wonderful. In addition the costumes are very important on this movie because they create the magical aspect of this world (floating candles, uniforms...). To end the special effects make the movie a blockbuster (ghost, troll...).

We can say that Hary Potter and the Philosopher's stone is a great film which respect very well the book with the same name. And even if the book is better than the movie, the movie is convincing and take us into a beautiful new world.

You better see it, after all it's the best sorcerers movie ever in this cinematographic world.

Hope you enjoyed, bye ;).
