Review of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001) by Elijah C — 22 Jan 2015
Ah Harry Potter one of my favorite franchises of all time! I decided to revisit all the Harry Potter films to catch up on some memories and reflect on still how great they are even in today's generation.
Let me say the plot is unique, clever, and entertaining. The special effects is top notch to this day even though the movie released in 2001! The CGI looks amazing even though in the soccer game sequence all the characters where fully animated but it still looked very cool.
The first film is really light hearted, sweet, and fun. But towards the end the movies becomes a little dark which is good. I would've liked it if the movie explored more dark elements and not just that one scene towards the end.
The acting is really good and every actors looked like they were actually trying and putting in a good effort in their acting. The movie is unpredictable most of the time and when they have a twist I will become very surprised.
The movie is extremely entertaining with a funny script, suspenseful scenes, and enjoyable sequences like using magic. The movie suffer flaws like the extreme run time on the movie. The movie is very slow at the beginning.
Certain scenes seemed repetitive, so the movie kind of lacked inconsistency. Even though I was on the edge of my seat towards the end of the movie. The movie was over and I was dissatisfied at the end.
I felt like they rushed the ending to end the run time faster. I wasn't so intrigued of the main plot of the sorcerer's stone and who stoled. I kind of felt like it was over utilized a lot for the movie and how tiring and even boring when the characters are still investigating about a stone that I don't know nor care about.
Besides my minor complaints this movie is literally magical. The people who made this film made something new, original, and entertaining for all ages. The makers also made new ideas to make this movie actually work and stay to the source material of the book to boost up the movie a whole lot.
That is why the Harry Potter franchise and the movie will go down in movie history. Everyone can enjoy this film it's fun for the kids and adults to watch. Also, you can't wait what is going to happen next after you watch just one.
That is why I am going to give "Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone" an A- grading!
