Review of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001) by Alex M — 14 May 2017
Chris Columbus kicks off the Harry Potter films with this brilliant adaptation of the first book. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson all shine as the 11-year-old versions of Harry, Ron and Hermione, laying the groundwork for their characters' evolutions throughout the series.
Same goes for the supporting cast, particularly Alan Rickman as Snape. Everything from Harry's first Quidditch match to the journey in the Forbidden Forest to the confrontation with Voldemort over the Sorcerer's Stone is a tense, nail-biting thrill.
10/10.
