Review of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001) by Theondoris K — 08 Sep 2017
The first in the highest grossing franchise of all time, Harry Potter begins his series of adventures in a very likable way. It is a faithful adaptation of JK Rowling's 1997 book, and is likable in every way.
You've got Harry Potter, an 11 year old orphan living with his Aunt, Uncle and cousin, who don't tell him a thing about his past or true identity. Then you've got a whole other world, hidden from ours for unknown reasons.
I personally enjoyed seeing Diagon Alley. All the characters were very likeable, Hogwarts looked great, and the John Williams score was amazing. Chris Columbus did a good job adapting the book, but needs to work on sticking to spme of the original material.
Why couldn't it be produced by the author like The Hunger Games was? Anyway, to sum up, if you liked the book, you'll like this movie as much.
