The strengths of the first in the Potter juggernaut remain Stuart Craig's glorious production design and the multitude of excellent performances from the likes of Alan Rickman, Robbie Coltrane and Richard Harris.
Steve Kloves does what he can to fillet things, but at 150 minutes it's a good thirty minutes too long, and just one thing after another.
