Review of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007) by Brutuso. — 13 Aug 2007
Wow! Talk about a backlash. Did nobody like this film? This film is OK, despite all the naysayers. Given it is based on the worst book of the lot, it works surprisingly well. Admittedly, it would not have mattered much if it had never been made, because the overall plot does not advance all that far.
Basically Harry worries about Voldemort for a while, irritates everyone, and then has another interminable face-off with the bad flunkies. But as far as these things go, not bad. I have to admit I did get the feeling there were too many British character actors (wonderful as they are) racing around doing nothing terribly significant.
Imelda Staunton deserves special credit for bringing the delightfully awful Dolores to life. The principals were good, the sets were good, the script was ...OK. Bring on the next one.
