Review of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009) by Kendall I — 11 Nov 2013
While not as strong as the Goblet of Fire, it is definitely an improvement over Order of the Phoenix. It had much more of a villain complex with the past of Tom Riddle and the present fate of Malfoy and Snape leading to Dumbledore's demise.
Also, there's more fleshing out with the main characters that is so fascinating to watch. And I'll admit, some jokes had me laughing when they utilize British humor into teasing about relationships.
The only real problem I had with the film is why do all the backgrounds have to be dark? I mean, when Dumbledore and Harry are in the tunnel, the chiaroscuro lighting is great and really fits. But I just thought this flick had no lighting at all, almost like the lights were out half the time.
But it's a nitpick, it really is a great movie.
