Review of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009) by Jason 123 D — 27 Sep 2012
David Yates is getting better at his job... High promise for the final installment of the series; Splitting the movie into two parts guarantees success... Or so we should hope. Half-Blood Prince takes extensive artistic license in switching the order of the plot progression, adding scenes not present in the book, switching the focus to Harry and Ron's love life, and dulling the final scenes, which includes a pathetic ending in which the students gather around Dumbledore's dead body with their wands lifted high -- Dramatic and uncalled for -- even omitting Dumbledore's funeral and scene between Ginny and Harry, voiding his relentless obsession and focus on the romance between the characters.
Visually stunning as always, the Harry Potter production team never fails to let down -- just the director and scriptwriters.
