Review of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009) by Dominic C — 22 Feb 2014
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is one of the greatest Harry Potter films in my opinon. The storyline is great., and adds crucial bits of plot to the series. The characters are likable as always, and the presence of Horace Slughorn is nice.
Jim Broadbent has done very well at this role, and makes Horace a likable character even with his faults. This film does something Goblet of FIre and Order of the Phoenix falled at, making Michael Gambon a good Dumbledore! Here is where he does best.
There's a very dramatic and sad scene that I won't spoil on the astronomy tower, but it's fantastic. Here's what I was waiting for since Richard Harris' death. The budding romances between Hermoine and Ron, and Harry and Ginny are nicely done, and seem more realistic than most teenage romance novels.
This is the first flawless Harry Potter movie in my opinion since The Prisoner of Azkaban. All fans should love it.
