Review of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) by Stan J — 19 Sep 2015
This entry into the series was always my favorite when I was younger. I was very curious today whether it would hold up against the self raised hype. It did. The Goblet Fire takes a giant step away from the formula set by the first three films.
This makes it not only unpredictable but also much more exciting. It manages to carry over the darker tone set by Prisoner of Azkaban but also raises the stakes even higher. Although Harry never finds himself in easy situations, this task is definitely a frightening one.
Aside from that, the way the friendship dynamic between Harry and Ron is handled in the film is great. Ron finally speaks up about how frustrating it can be being Harry Potter's best friend. It also made their friendship after the events even stronger.
The way the film ends is nice as well, it is a concrete ending but leaves you wanting more. I'm excited to continue the franchise but don't know how easy it will be for the further sequels to compete against the high bar raised by this eventful fourth installment.
