Review of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) by Stephanie W — 19 Jan 2014
One of the best Potter films of all time. Second only to the Deathly Hallows.
As the turning point of the whole series, it makes sense to invoke some more growth in the dark side of the magical wold. I love the book, and it's translation to a movie came out nothing short of brilliant.
Some cuts were made, but I will never understand those people who think that it made the series suffer. Being a huge Harry Potter fan, you have to be skilled at criticism (or just prejudiced) not to love this. I highly recommend it to everyone. I thought the the thin tale of Prisoner of Azkaban wasn't as good as the others, but director Mike Newell picks up the track where Chris Columbus left it. I'm impressed.
Ralph Fiennes as Lord Voldemort makes his first appearance here. Mike Newell couldn't have found a better actor to play Voldemort. Although his appearance is pretty short, it was the best(or worst)scene in the entire movie.
The last parts of the movie were one of the most amazing scenes in the entire eight part saga. It's a real development in the movie, as Voldemort returns, still determined to take over the wizard world. He also shows that he won't rest until he's finally succeeded in murdering his worst enemy, Harry Potter. (If you don't know that much, start from the beginning).
"I'm going to kill you Harry Potter. I'm going to destroy you" -Lord Voldemort.
A+.
(Ive already watched it at least fifteen times;still loving it!).
