Review of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 (2011) by Gladys D — 14 Oct 2015
While not the most enjoyable or heart-warming as the others, this was definitely one of the strong ones that left a mark on you. Doesn't completely follow the books, sadly, which is one of my problems with it. The trio, Harry, Hermione, and Ron, give good performances along with Rickman as Snape and Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort.
A lot of tears were shed on this one, but not happy ones. A lot of deaths in this movie, so get ready for it. Harry, himself, isn't the most interesting protagonist, but I give him a pass, as he is only 17 or 18, and let's be honest, no one really made the best choices at that age.
Snape's reveal was a big shock for me. I read the books after I saw the movies, so I was pretty shocked to see that he wasn't working for Voldemort at all. Complex character, whether you like him or not, and always my favorite. The build-up was good and the action was okay. Only downside was the fall of Voldemort which was really lame and the final battle between him and Harry was a huge let-down with a few comebacks, a slap, and randomly jumping...off a building...I don't know.
The epilogue, while I did smile a bit while watching it, could've been left out for the Director's cut or something. It's not a huge problem but if you're not into really, really cheesy endings, this one might bother you. Book was way better, but I still like to watch this when I have a marathon of Harry Potter.
